PDA alum Addison Halpern, currently starring at the University of Virginia, became the 2024 United Soccer Coaches Girls High School Player of the Year for her tremendous performance for Rutgers Prep last fall.

Halpern earned the 2024–25 Gatorade New Jersey Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year award, and as well as the 2024–25 Gatorade National Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year honor, placing her among the elite high school athletes nationwide. She was also named the 2025 USL W-League Young Player of the Year whilst competing for Paisley Athletic FC.

It has been a dominant display on the field for the past 12 months for Halpern. Before UVA early in January, she competed for Rutgers Prep for her senior fall season and delivered spectacular results.

  • 44 goals and 14 assists in 2024
  • Drove Rutgers Prep to an undefeated 23–0 record, capturing both the Prep B and Non-Public B state championships
  • Provided the assist on the final of their 3–0 state title win over DePaul High
  • Despite missing the first six games while competing with the U.S. U-20 Women’s National Team, her impact was undeniable upon returning

By the close of her high school career, she had amassed 180 goals—second in New Jersey’s history—and 68 career assists.

National Recognition & Context

In addition to her state accolade, Addison was selected as the Gatorade National Girls’ Soccer Player of the Year—a rare and prestigious distinction recognizing excellence in athletics, academics, and character from among hundreds of nominees across the U.S.

Addison’s success isn’t limited to goals and trophies. During her high school years, her work in the community was vast and she also maintained a 3.86 weighted GPA. Her volunteer work includes roles with Rise Against Hunger, mentoring elementary school students, coaching youth soccer, and supporting community service initiatives through her church. Addison graduated early in December, and began her journey at the University of Virginia in the spring semester.
