Three PDA Alumni in the Top 100 Freshmen in Division 1 Men’s Soccer

Once again in the 2025 season, PDA players are proving that they are ready to hit the ground running in college soccer and helping teams succeed from day one. Three PDA freshmen, Brian Edelman, Will Salivonchik, and Nicky Berardi, were ranked in the Top 100 Freshman by TopDrawerSoccer recently.

Brian Edelman, Redshirt Freshman at Creighton University in the Big East, has had an outstanding freshman campaign. Starting every game for the Bluejays, the centerback leads the team in minutes played in addition to chipping in with two goals.

Nicky Berardi, Freshman for Army West Point, has had a similarly impactful freshman year - starting 12 matches and appearing in all 17 for the Black Knights, in addition to chipping in with four assists from his right back position.

Will Salivonchik, also playing right back, helped Marist to a strong start to their season, going 6-0-2 in their first eight matches and earning a national ranking as high as #17. While some mid-season injuries derailed Will’s stellar start, he still managed 11 starts and over 800 minutes.

We caught up with several of our freshmen to find out what had led them to such early success on the college scene.

“PDA was an amazing stepping stone for me that has contributed greatly to my early success in the collegiate game. The competitive environment along with the quality coaching staff built a place that breeds top level players” said Brian Edelman, as he looked to push Creighton into post season play.

As he prepares for the Patriot League playoffs, Nicky Berardi also pointed to the training environment as a major factor in his success: “Having played in consistently high intensity and highly competitive environments at PDA throughout my club years, I developed a strong work ethic and competitive mindset that have allowed me to adapt to the physicality and demanding pace of college soccer. The foundation helped me transition smoothly and find early success in college, both on and off the field.”

PDA Academy Director Tyler Stakiwicz, agrees with their view: “I’m super proud of Brian, Will, and Nicky, and all of our freshmen, as there are plenty more guys having great seasons that didn’t make the list. Those three in particular are great examples to all of our young players, because all three had very different pathways through PDA. Trust the process- and PDA can help you not just make it to the top levels of college soccer, but help you succeed right away when you get there.”

Best of luck to all our PDA Alumni as they finish out their college seasons, and all of our current PDA players as they move into the college recruitment process themselves.
