Former PDA player Brendan McSorley made his first career MLS start on September 20th, 2025, and scored his first career MLS brace for St. Louis CITY SC in a huge 3-1 win over San Jose Earthquakes at PayPal Park.

McSorley put CITY SC on the board in the tenth minute, scoring his first career MLS goal with a right-footed shot from the center of the box. Nine minutes later, McSorley got the assist for Marcel Hartel’s goal that gave St. Louis the 2-0 lead. The Earthquakes got one back in the 31st minute, but it was McSorley once again — scoring with a header in the 45th minute as he picked up his first career MLS brace.

Earlier in September, CITY SC signed Brendan to a first team contract through the end of the 2025 MLS season, with a club option for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.

The majority of the 2025 regular season, McSorley has been with the CITY2 team, competing in the MLS NEXT Pro league. He recorded 8 goals and 8 assists in the 2025 season from 23 appearances. McSorley became the first player from CITY2 to record a brace for CITY SC in the MLS. He was able to make 8 appearances, with 2 starts, for a total of 272 minutes for the MLS side. McSorley made his MLS debut in June 2024, entering the match as a substitute against Colorado Rapids.

“PDA was an integral part of my journey in playing professional soccer,” McSorley said when giving a testimonial of his time at PDA. “The staff and coaches are still in my life seven years after joining the club. Besides the most impressive training I’ve experienced, the culture and pride that comes with PDA is truly special.”

We are excited to see another year of progression for Brendan and can’t wait to see what he can produce in 2026.
