Harvard’s Sheeleigh Selected by Boston Breakers in WPS Draft
Kat Sheeligh, formerly of the PDA Fury, has been drafted by the Boston Breakers with the 19th pick in the third round of the 2011 Women’s Professional Soccer Draft. With the selection by the Breakers, Sheeleigh will be able to continue her soccer career in Cambridge, since the WPS franchise plays its home games at Harvard Stadium.
Sheeleigh, a native of New Vernon, N.J., was the 2010 Ivy League Player of the Year, as well as a finalist for the prestigious Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. A four-time All-Ivy choice, as well as the Ancient Eight Rookie of the Year in 2007, Sheeleigh garnered Soccer America and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America honors as a senior. An NEWISA Senior Bowl selection, Sheeleigh also succeeded in the classroom, earning ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District accolades last season.
