RED BULL NATIONAL LEAGUE EXPANDS TO 18 U.S. TEAMS TO BEGIN ITS SECOND SEASON

CATCH’EM IF YOU CAN – NOMADS SC TO DEFEND CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE

Santa Monica, Calif. – July 16, 2007 – Red Bull National League begins its sophomore (2007-08) season of fierce competition Aug. 2-4 at the Oaks Blenheim Polo Fields in San Juan Capistrano, Calif., expanding from 16 to 18 teams with the additions of Sereno SC of Phoenix, Ariz. and FC Greater Boston of Waban, Mass.

The first-of-its-kind RBNL is a youth club soccer league pitting the nation’s top under-17 boys’ teams against one another in front of hundreds of NCAA coaches and professional scouts. The league is a series of three weekend-long tournaments leading up to the intense pressure cooker that is next spring’s playoffs, and the ultimate glory of winning the RBNL championship title.

Returning to defend the first RBNL title is Nomads SC of La Jolla, Calif. Nomads defeated Arsenal FC, 3-2, in last season’s all-Southern California final at the Naperville Polo Fields in Plainfield, Ill. during Memorial Day weekend. As part of the championship reward, Nomads were invited to play the New York Red Bulls U-17 team at Giants Stadium on July 14, 2007, prior to Red Bull New York-New England Revolution Major League Soccer match. Nomads won a spirited match, 1-0, representing itself well throughout.

ALL-STAR LINEUP

The RBNL’s expansion committee convened in the offseason to select Sereno SC and FC Greater Boston to join the league and compete in the upcoming season. The committee researched top clubs throughout the country and chose Sereno SC and FC Greater Boston due to their great tradition, ability to consistently produce high-level players, and status as among the top clubs in their respective regions on an annual basis.
