2007 PDA Soccer
Marathon:
to Benefit
 On November
30 and December 1, 2007, the Players Development Academy will host a 24-hour marathon
soccer match as a charity/fundraising event. Players from the 23 PDA
soccer club teams, along with players from the PDA Urban Academy
programs in New Brunswick, will participate in the marathon. All
donations will be split 50/50 with the Marrow Foundation. The Marrow
Foundation and the Players Development Academy are 501(c) 3
nonprofit organizations. The
Marrow Foundation provides resources to make bone marrow
transplants possible for everyone who needs one, and to improve the
length and quality of life for transplant recipients. The Marrow
Foundation was founded in 1991 by Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, Jr.
the youngest four star admiral and later Chief of Naval Operations.
Admiral Zumwalt became aware of the needs of transplant patients when
his eldest son, Elmo, needed a bone marrow transplant to treat lymphoma.
Soccer legend Mia Hamm, whose brother,
Garrett, received a bone marrow transplant, supports The Marrow
Foundation as a member of the National Leadership Council and through
fundraising events.
The need is great.
The solution is simple.
Life.
It's in you.
